I finally got around to giving the Morrowind AnimKit a permanent home on my web site so people won't have to dig around in ancient posts on the Bethesda forum to find it anymore. I've also made a minor update to my New Beast Bodies mod to fix a glitch where parts of the Khajiit would disappear when viewed through the surface of the water.

I've recently added a new 3.0 version of my New Best Bodies mod for Morrowind! There are several improvements in this new version, but the biggest news is that the Argonians have new bodies that are compatible with most Better Bodies clothing! They've also been given new higher-res textures, and the size of the Khajiit textures was increased as well.

Also, I've now added optional patch downloads which will allow you to use my body meshes with other popular Argonian and Khajiit textures from Slof and Silaria

I've just uploaded new versions of my Unique Shadow Pack and New Beast Body mods! These 2.0 versions add in the long awaited female Khajiit, which finally completes the set! Now all beast races are finally upgraded by my mods

It's been quite a while, hasn't it? I've actually added some updates to the site without really mentioning them here on the front page, so it's probably about time I did so.

Things I've added to the site before today, but haven't really announced are:

Art Gallery:
* Increased the size and rebalanced the colors on all images. The maximum dimention is now 800 pixels either tall or wide (depending on orientation).
* Added a new piece of artwork, Zan's Dirty Photo.
* Changed the default to hide mature items. You will have to intentionally click the link to see them.

Games Section:
* Added sound and music to my Yoshi RPG Demo.
* Added two Morrowind Mods:
- New Beast Bodies (clean, mature): Replaces the bodies of Argonians and male Khajiit with better looking ones
- Unique Shadow Pack: allows each beast race and the Mog race to have shadows that look like them.
* Re-uploaded my old DragonRealms website to zekris.liztail.com and added a link to it in the Game section
* Added my old text-based DragonRealms fan game, the Virtual S'kra Village.
* Added a link to NifTools, an open source project I used to work on.

My web host updated to PHP5 recently, and while my site still seemed to work fine, reading about PHP6 made me realize that I would need to do some updating before that version comes into widespread use for sure, so I took the opportunity to make a few changes as well, which are now in effect.

The biggest new thing is that I've finally cleaned up and revamped my links page and removed all the links that appear to be dead (so sad ). In the process, however, I've added several new links to new comics I've grown to love lately, so I hope you'll check them out

I also made some minor updates:
* Re-exposed the old news items on the front page.
* Split the writing section up into story/poetry categories.
* Made it so you won't see mature images or projects if you have them hidden, even if you follow a direct link to them.
* Corrected all the PHP warnings that were caused by moving to PHP5 so the site should hopefully be a bit faster now.
* Other misc. bug fixes.

Karai Concept

Well, my contract with my previous host FINALLY expired! Their servers were fairly fast and reliable when it came to the web site, but the e-mail and FTP servers were awful.

You'll notice some changes around the site, including the addition of the "Quickies" category under Artwork and a new (well, actually fairly old) image too

You also now have the ability to decide whether you want to see images with mature themes or not by clicking the link near the top of the Artwork page. If you have cookies enabled, your setting will be saved for the next time you visit as well.

There may be some glitches for a while as a result of the changes, but hopefully they should all be cleared up soon! If you notice something, don't hesitate to tell me!

I also removed some mostly un-utilized features and made some changes that I hope will streamline and improve the performance of the site. That said, I'm still in school and I still work full time, so there may not be any major updates for quite some time. I wish it weren't so, but it is

Hello everyone! I'm sure you're all wondering where I am (again), and I'm here to shed some light on the situation and roll out a bit of an update at the same time.

First of all, where I am: In school! That's right, I'm finally getting my education on track again. Unfortunately, since I can't afford to ditch my full time job... and I'm also now a full time student... well you can see where this is going, can't you? <G> My time is really limited now, so there may not be many updates for quite some time. I had been focusing on a new programming project, but now I have to face facts that I probably won't have time to finish it right now. I'll keep you all updated as things progress

Now for the update... unfortunately it's not content, just some updates to the website code. Here it is in all it's bullet list glory:

• The RSS Feed now contains the full text of my news updates.


• The RSS Feed also includes the date of the news item (I noticed how annoying the lack of this can be when I switched to a new RSS Aggregator)


• The look of the site has been updated a bit, and is now finally stylistically consistent again.


• The behavior of the download links in the Game Projects section has changed; now you can simply click the link to download the game. Windows XP SP2 discourages website designers from launching automatic downloads, so I had to stop using the easy way to count the number of hits on those files ;

The other day I was looking at the front page for Studios and just thought it was really boring and stale... It needed to be more dynamic, exciting, alluring! ... Or something Anyway, you can see the result of this realization! Enjoy!

Update: I've applied the same design to several other pages around the site as well... I may continue to make small changes in this direction as time goes on

::dons a party hat and throws confetti!:: Whee!! Can you believe it's already been a year? Astounding! Today Studios is 1... and I'm 23. (Kinda convenient how I we have the same birthday, huh? ) As promised, I've got lots of nice stuff for you! 3 new pictures to be exact! Hope you enjoy them!

And now I just want to take a moment to thank everyone who has visited Studios... You guys and gals have really made this whole art thing rewarding in so many ways and I'm honored to have received every comment and every visit from all of you. I hope you will continue to enjoy the site and continue to be forgiving when I don't update often enough ;;

Well, recently it has come to my attention that my artwork was big... huge even.... I picked PNG as the format for my images because of quality, but after realizing that it could take someone on dial up up to 2 minutes to download a single picture... I decided to change my mind <G>

Consequently, all the images in my gallery (except one that I'm going to have to re-scan) have been converted to JPEG with 90% compression. I did some comparisons and the quality really is very close, but they'll load much faster. The biggest ones will probably take about 12 seconds for 56K users now.

I hope you all enjoy the changes! If you've visited my gallery in the past and were frustrated by how long it took to browse... well that should all be cleared up now!

Wow, you thought I was dead didn't you? Didn't you!? Well... I'm not! Today I've added two new pieces of artwork, Luna Shippin' and Knock Knock!

...You may have noticed that I finished "Knock Knock" quite a while back and didn't post it. Well... truth be told... I've actually been putting it off simply because I had to change the tab image for the first page of art to read 2001-2004... Eh heh e_e; Anyway, enjoy

Hello, all! I've just rolled out a small update to the comment system... Basically rather than having to go to a new page to comment, you can now type in your comment right on the same page as the thing you're commenting on Also, I added the ability to click on smilie icons to insert them into the text.

Unfortunately there's nothing new for you to comment on at the moment... but it won't be that way forever ;;

Wow, have I ever been lax, eh? Almost two months since my last update and I haven't even got anything to show for it. Oy!

Sorry to be a further disappointment, but it may still be a little while before you see anything new. Aside from just needing to take a break, the direction of my whims is random, and now it seems to have shifted back to programming. The good news is that I'll probably have fun things for you to play with eventually... the bad news is that programming takes even longer than drawing ;

In any case, I'll try to mix the two... might even do a little writing along the way, even though I realize most of you never even visit that section So don't lose hope, I have not vacated the premises. I just needed a bit of a vacation.

Trick or Treat!

Today marks the 6 month anniversary of Studios! I want to send out a huge THANK YOU to everyone who has visited my site and commented on my artwork!

To celebrate this occasion, I've been preparing a few nice things for you! First up, I've done a fair amount of re-design for the site! You'll notice new stuff like support for RSS News feeds, some re-organization that will cut down on load time especially moving into the future, and many other small improvements that help tie everything together! Look around, you may be surprised by what you find. <G>

Also, I've got a new picture and an updated one too! This picture isn't the one I've been talking about, so there's still more to come on the horizon. So enjoy, and thanks again for visiting Studios and your support!

You may have noticed the counter jumping around significantly... this was caused by me pruning out all the hits that were generated by crawlers and web bots... ie not real people. I've added code that should hopefully filter these out completely so they're not recorded at all in the future.

On another note, I'm on the coloring phase of my next new pic! Expect it... sometime ;;

Consequently, I'm not going to e-mail this to the mailing list because it's not that earth-shaking. I think I'll generally just send stuff to the mailing list if there's actually new content to see. Complain if you don't like that idea.

One last thing... I think that resolving the host name of newly arriving visitors was causing my page to load slowly on the first page view... so I took that out. Hopefully it's snappier now.

Some of my friends suggested that it might be easier to keep tabs on my site if I had some sort of update service, so I've created a mailing list that anyone who enjoys my site can join that will automatically update you with major things I post here on the front page.

As you may have already noticed, I've changed the layout of Studios to horizontal! The main reason for the change is that the old layout was very unfriendly to people with tiny screens. I wanted to make sure that people with at least 800x600 have a good experience and that people with less than that can still get around.

The old layout is not lost, however, and if I wanted to, I could switch back to it by changing a single file. <G> So feel free to let me know what you think!

Zan's Dream

That's right, I'm not dead! This last month and a few days have been VERY busy for me! I've gone back to full time employment at work, got a promotion, had a bunch of personal and family stuff go down... I even got a flat tire! Still, I'm just a slow artist when you get right down to it

I spruced up the main section of the website a bit! Navigation should be easier, and all the pages now have much the same look.

Also, I noticed that this main news page was beginning to load kind of slowly, so I limited it to the 10 most recent news items. Eventually I'll have a way to look at older news items, but for now I think it's more important that the first page people see doesn't take ages to pop up.

I also did some behind the scenes optimizing that should speed up things a teensy bit in general as well.

And now I'll go back to drawing, I swear! ::cowers::

P3P Privacy Policy Effected - Posted on 2003-07-16 16:04:44 EST by Shon

You may have never heard of P3P or what it means to you as a web browser, but basically it's a computer-readable privacy statement indicating how the website you're accessing will treat any data it collects from you... it says pretty much the same thing as my human-readable policy page but if you want to view it:

Internet Explorer:
* Click the View menu and choose Privacy Report....
* Click on of my pages in the list and then click the Summery button.

Mozilla
* Click the View menu and choose Page Info.
* Click the Privacy tab.
* Click the buttons to see the corresponding information.

The long and short is; if a site doesn't have an automated P3P privacy policy, your web browser may decide to automatically block cookies (which PHP uses to control sessions) based on your security settings resulting in that ugly PHPSESSID=blablablablabla thing on the end of the URL.

So hopefully that's all cleared up now. <G>

You can still turn off cookies if you want, but you will see the PHPSESSID thing.

On an unrelated note, a Mac-using friend of mine informed me that my pages weren't showing correctly on Safari and Mozilla for the Mac... after trying a bunch of things I was finally able to figure something out that causes them to look the same on ALL the browsers we tested for both Windows and Mac. Yay!

RPG Demo

Huzzah!! Studios is FINALLY fully operational! All sections are up and running. <G> I HATE having thoes annoying "Coming Soon" pages all over the place, and now I can finally get down to business making STUFF instead of writing more PHP and HTML. <G>

Of course, there does happen to be more stuff for you today In other words, not only is the game section open, but there's a game demo to download too! <G> The Games section is mostly about simple demos to show what's possible and how far I've come. This particular demo demonstrates an RPG-type Game with wandering people to talk to and even an animated battle mode... which you can never win but hey, this IS version 0.01! The neat thing about this is that you'll be able to track my progress on the various projects as they progress and even send me input along the way.

So check out the new game section and have fun!

I made a few minor tweaks to the layout of the site among which is the addition of the category title to the image pages when you're looking at an image so you don't have to guess what year it's from or whether it's gift art if you're just clicking through. <G>

I've been a bit quiet recently because I've been working on getting the Game Demo section up and running... it's a lot more complex than any of the other sections of the site so it's taking a bit of time. I'm getting there, though, and I've already got something to post in it as soon as it's done, so stay tuned. <G>

I've just added a new piece of gift art to the artwork page! It's from a great friend of mine, Annick Tremblay, so check it out! It does contain a bit of nudity if that sort of thing bothers you. <G>

As far as MY new piece of art work... it is close... very close. Yes yes, boo all you like since I'm late again, but I've NEVER colored anything even NEAR as complex as this image so it's taking longer than I anticipated... However I do think it's been worth it so far. I have a little more work to do coloring one of the characters, and then I've gotta do the lighting and shaddows... and that's it! Sooooon.

Well, unfortunately the weekend is here and I don't think that I'll be able to finish this new piece of artwork by the end of Sunday. Someone at work had to take an extended vacation resulting in me working three times the normal amount of hours... which is good for my checkbook but not my free time I had hoped to still get it done, but I still have a ways to go. At this point, I'd probably look for it sometime next week.

Counter Fix - Posted on 2003-06-01 21:48:25 EST by Shon

I noticed some erroneous boosting of the counter by a user who accessed several different pages but wasn't being tracked by a session. To fix this I made it so that a subsequent visit that has occurred less than an hour after the last page view from a previous visit with the same IP address doesn't count as a new visit.... say that five times fast! <G> The net result is that the counter will be that much more accurate in tracking only unique visits. I did compress the offending page views into one visit, though, so you may have noticed the counter drop by 3

On another note, I added the words "Poem" and "Short Story" to the default icons in the writing section so you have some idea what you're getting into before you click. <G> Also added a new link to the links section!

Finally I just wanted to say that I'm making excellent progress on a brand new picture and hope to have it up here within a week. The status of the game demo is that it was a fan demo and I want to remove copyrighted material, but I'm thinking about writing up the PHP code for the game section and posting some screen shots.

I changed the layout of the art viewing page including the addition of previous and next buttons which show the thumbnails and allow you to navigate between images without returning to the gallery. <G> Should save some clicking if you just want to look at everything

I also switched most of the images that make up the site theme to 256-color palletized versions to improve loading time a bit... I can't tell the difference in quality, can you? <G>

I added the ability to have smilies! I finally hit on a look I liked and created a bunch! Check 'em out:



is also a "smilie" <G> I'll add more eventually... they work in any comment, just type the smilie as you normally would (using colons for the sideways eyes with no 'nose', and underscores for the anime mouths) and it will be replaced when displayed.

I also finally managed to get all the boxes on the site to look the way I wanted originally! Whee!! HTML can be reaaaally finicky some times You tell it what you think is exactly the same thing in a slightly different way and suddenly it understands. <G>

The writing section is officially opened! I haven't done nearly as much writing as I have drawing, but I did upload two examples of my writing. I'll probably add more as I get a chance to proof-read them.

That means I just have the Game's section to go now before I have no more of those annoying "coming soon" pages. <G> Of course I can't open the section until I have a game or demo to put there... I've got a demo that I did a few years ago that's probably the most complete that I've done, but I'd like to do a little polishing on it before I post it for all to see, so I may finish up other aspects of the website before you see that banner go away... don't worry, I haven't forgotten and I'll certainly post a news update here when it's ready.

I also updated the art section a bit so that when you click the "return to the gallery" link, you will jump back to the beginning of the category that the picture you were viewing was in instead of the top of the page.

Finally, I updated the comment system to beg for new comments a little more blatantly and make the "add comment" link easier to see by making it a button.

That leaves two more sections to go. <G> I can't decide if I want to enhance the comment system a little more or open the other sections first... neither is dependant on the other... we'll see what I feel like working on tomorrow, I suppose.

It's my birthday!! And also Mother's Day... >_>; Ah well, it went well regardless! I got a bunch of stuff that I wanted and, for today, all is well with the universe.

It was a pretty busy day, so I didn't have time to add much to the site, but I DID get permission to post two more pieces of art... one was a wonderful gift from Ashley Green, while the other was a gift I did for a friend of mine who goes by the name, Talfie.

I also fixed a slight bug whereby all the text in the image descriptions ignored line breaks.

Huzzah! Today, Studios opens for business! Well.. mostly. There are still several areas of the site that I haven't finished programming, but I made a goal for myself to at least get the art section up by my Birthday, and that's in one hour in my time zone! I DID IT!!! XD

Ehhem Though the content may seem sparse now, worry not. I have a whole hard-drive full of past images to look through for inclusion in the past galleries, and am working on 3 new pieces of artwork, with two in advanced stages of completion. I've also got some writing samples, a simple game demo, and a bunch of links to post... but as you can see this site is 100% dynamic! While this means updates will be really easy to do, it also means that it takes a little while to get things set up initially.

That said, things are definitely starting to come together! So for now, check out the art gallery, and don't forget to leave a comment!
